Exercise of any kind encourages the flow of venous blood back to the heart.
It must therefore be the declared aim of all of us to organise our daily
lives and, in particular, our leisure time so that it involves activity.
Naturally, first and foremost, this means playing sport, but even regular,
brisk walks can contribute a good deal to the health of your legs. Those
forms of sport are ideal which strengthen the leg muscles without putting a
strain on the venous system (e.g. through powerful lifting or pushing).
These include the following: Rambling, swimming, cycling, walking, jogging,
golf, cross-country skiing, gymnastics, dancing and riding. Below, we have
singled out two activities which can be performed equally well without much
effort by both people with healthy veins and those with vein disorders. |
