Anyone who does not like walking alone should persuade a friend, neighbour or acquaintance to join them. Many adult education centres, sports clubs and pharmacies now offer courses in walking because everybody knows that sport is much more fun if engaged in as a group. You will also obtain instruction so that you will not make any unnecessary mistakes.
Choose as your place of exercise somewhere that provides a firm foundation, although hard asphalt is just as unsuitable as sandy or gravel paths. Parks or woodland paths are the most suitable. They have the added advantage of providing for variety.
