No definitive scientific
proof has been produced for a genetic predisposition to connective
tissue insufficiency which is nowadays blamed for the development of
vein disorders in about 90% of all cases. All that is known for certain
is that slackening of the venous wall is present in the diseased veins
although it has not yet been possible to clarify whether it is the cause
or consequence of the Venous insufficiency. The fact of a hereditary
increased incidence of venous disorders has, however, been clearly
identified. One possible cause which has to be considered in this
context is the same level of social development. The same lifestyle,
habits, nutrition and environmental influences play a major role in this
and have to be taken into consideration in their entirety.
