Oxygen-poor blood is transported from the right ventricle to the lung via the pulmonary arteries. Gas exchange takes place in the lung. The blood gives off carbon dioxide and is replenished with oxygen. This oxygen-rich blood reaches the left ventricle via the pulmonary veins.
